Ms. Whatley's class had an APPLETASTIC review day! We used our computers to research Johnny Appleseed and gather facts for our informational writing review, we read and answered questions about an informational Johnny Appleseed text, and we also reviewed sequencing while learning the steps to make applesauce. Happy Johnny Appleseed Day!
It's hard to believe that we have completed our first 9 weeks of school already! Term 1 report cards will go home with students on Friday, October 4.
We recognize the dedication our students show each day, and we enjoy celebrating their efforts with fun activities. I'm excited to share details about several exciting events coming up in the next few weeks!

Thank you all for a wonderful first 9 weeks of school. We look forward to diving into Term 2 on Monday.

Weather Update 9/10/24:
Parents & Guardians,
Based on the current information available, the decision has been made to close schools tomorrow, Wednesday, Sept. 11, 2024. We will make a final decision about Thursday once we have more reliable information to review. We will share this information with students and parents very soon. As always, we will share this information through ParentSquare (text, email), social media and our website. Thank you for your cooperation and stay safe Indian Nation
This week, we want to give a huge shoutout to the following teachers who have been inspiring students with their creativity, dedication, and passion for teaching. Whether it’s through innovative lesson plans, unwavering support, or simply making learning fun, these teachers exemplify what it means to be a truly exceptional teacher. You are what makes North Bay A++ and we thank you!
REMINDER! September 15 is the last day to submit orders for Birthday Grams for the entire school year. If your student has a June, July or August birthday, no worries! We can deliver them anytime!
Second graders are working hard in Ms. Griffin's class, learning about synonyms. Students had to find their partner who had a word that means almost the same as their word. Our cinnamon synonym activity was sure made sweeter with cinnamon rolls after.
Our NB Fall Scholastic Book Fair is scheduled for September 16-20, 2024. The Book Fair catalog came home with students earlier this week. Parents/guardians may come in and shop with their students from 8 - 9 am during the week of September 16. Students may go shop at the Book Fair (without parents) throughout the day each day that week as well.
Attached is the form with directions for setting up an eWallet. If you choose to set up an eWallet for your student, they can use that rather than keep up with cash. Cash and checks are accepted, and checks should be made out to North Bay. If you send cash or checks, make sure you send it in an envelope or ziploc bag labeled "Book Fair." Sometimes the students can't remember and use the money for lunch, ice cream, etc. Debit cards will only be accepted when the adult is present from 8-9 each morning.
Announcements for August 2024
Students in Girard's 3rd grade math classes worked cooperatively on putting strategies for multiplication in their mental toolboxes today! They're learning to activate what ways of solving problems in math that work best for them!
Ms. Whatley's class worked on sequencing while playing an escape room game. The students were "locked in" and had to correctly identify the correct order of events in a passage to get the answers correct. Once they got all of the answers correct, they were given a code for that level. Once they finished all five levels, they were able to escape!
Swimming lessons for 1st graders have begun! At Biloxi Swim, we believe every child deserves the opportunity to learn how to swim and develop a lifelong love for the water. Swimming is empowerment! #biloxiswim #thecoast #swimislife
Ms. Griffin's second grade class is learning about graphs. They completed their own bar graphs while enjoying a sweet treat. These second graders sure are rocking their new math skills!
The car rider traffic flow plan will change beginning this afternoon, 8/9/24. The attached car rider flow plan is attached. Please read it carefully. The biggest change is that traffic is now one lane until you enter the car rider loop. Upon entering the loop, you will be directed into two lanes by our staff. In addition, all cars must enter by turning right. This means that all cars must enter Tribe Drive from Cedar Lake Road. Cars must also turn right when exiting the car rider line. We will have our Biloxi School Resource Officers on site directing traffic.
Please remember that our staff members are there to keep all students safe. They are working hard, in the heat, and they do so without complaint because they love our students. Please be kind. If you are directed to come inside because you don't have your school issued car rider tag, thank that staff member for keeping your child safe. If a staff member asks you to keep your car rider tag visible, thank them for keeping your child safe by making sure that each child will enter the correct car. If a staff member asks you to stop using your cell phone while driving, thank them for keeping all students and staff safe.
Thank you,
Allison Merit, principal
